This course will cover basic bike safety skills for new bike riders or seasoned bike riders.  Students will learn how to fit a helmet properly, how to make sure their bike is safe to ride, California bike laws - including bicyclist hand signals, hazards for cyclists and how to avoid them, and strategies to safely interact with vehicles and pedestrians on our roadways.  

This intermediate course builds upon content in Bike Basics to teach 5^th grade children how to safely navigate streets when sharing the road with vehicles and pedestrians. Content includes California bike laws, right-of-way, what to do at a stop light, the safest way to ride in the street, how to determine how safe a street is for bicycling, and how to plan and create a safe bike route.
